ISHQ FESTIVAL
A festival where love transcends

You are invited into ISHQ, a city-wide festival celebrating artistic traditions shaped by love, longing, devotion, contemplation, beauty, and human connection. This festival is where exceptional artistry, cultural depth, and emotional resonance come together.

ISHQ Festival brings you into the music, poetry, dance, and film of South Asia, Central Asia, Persia, North Africa, and beyond. From Qawwali to classical, devotional to contemporary, the festival brings together artists from across the world who share one language: the language of ishq.
Throughout the festival, you will encounter sacred, traditional, spiritual, and contemplative forms from across cultures and disciplines. These works are living artistic experiences that carry memory, devotion, imagination and love. You may arrive with a deep connection to the forms being presented, or you may be meeting them for the first time.
ISHQ invites you to listen closely, feel deeply, and experience art not only as performance, but as a way of remembering, reflecting, and becoming more connected to what you carry within.
This is an invitation to experience art that reaches the heart before it asks to be understood.

What is ISHQ (عشق)?
The word ishq (عشق) speaks of a love that goes beyond ordinary language.
It is love as longing. Love as devotion. Love as surrender. Love as a force that asks us to go beyond the self and enter something larger.
At ISHQ Festival, this feeling takes many forms: a voice held in song, a poem spoken aloud, a film that stays with you, a rhythm repeated until the body understands, a dancer whirling, a story remembered, or a silence shared by everyone in the room.
“Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times. Come, yet again , come , come.”
